INFORMATION ON THE VALIDITY OF BOAT LICENSES

Recommended official certificate of competence for captains of yachts in coastal waters of all seas up to 12 nautical miles from the mainland coast. The sports coastal skipper's license can be obtained for yachts with a propulsion engine or with a propulsion engine and sail.



REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A SPORTS COASTAL BOAT LICENSE (SKS)

Minimum age 16 yearsPossession of a sports boating license (SBF) seaProof of 300 nautical miles, including training trips, completed on yachts in coastal areasProof of the required qualifications in an examination.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE EXAM

The applicant should already have 150 nautical miles of experience before the training cruise. If this is not the case, we recommend booking the mile cruise (150 nautical miles) in advance as preparation for the SKS cruise. Theory and practice must be completed within 2 years of passing the first part. It does not matter whether you start with a theoretical or practical exam. Practical exams in Holland are taken by the Rhine-Ruhr examination committee of the DSV. Theoretical exams are taken by the Rhine-Mosel-Saar examination committee of the DSV. The exam must be requested from the relevant committee.
